How will the MVA be consolidated

Hi there,

I hope it is OK to ask this question here.

Microsoft started to deprecate the MVA at the 31st of January 2019 and it will be shut down in JUne as far as I know.

It is stated that you should finish your courses before retirement in order to earn your certificates.

In Microsoft Learn we now have "points". Will these certificates be converted into points when they are migrating to Microsoft Learn?

What can I do with these points? Ok, it is needed for some fame, but will it be consolidated maybe to here in the tech community?

Kind regards,
woelki

You are correct, Microsoft has now depreciated MVA and it will be closed down later this year. From having received several emails on it myself the instructions have been to finish up and download both your certifications and transcripts ASAP otherwise they may be removed as part of the decomission process. I advise you to do so as soon as its possible.

The certificates from MVA will not be converted into points - and there is nothing Microsoft have said to suggest this. That makes sense - Microsoft Learn is a completely new platform with completely new courses and learning paths. Today, it is very Azure focused but has expanded into Dynamics 365 and will later include more including Microsoft 365. Currently, the points only relates to the 'level' of the individual with no explicit value (apart from what you say, a higher level), however Learn is currently developing and in time they may introduce awards, scoreboards, named levels (I.e. Learner, Experienced Learner) similar to here on the Tech Community which uses such a system to designate contributors.

It is unknown whether Learn and Tech Community will merge in the future. It is only conjecture, but if I were guessing than it would consolidate all the other legacy education systems such as Partner University first. Learn and Tech Community serve slightly different purposes in terms of education and community support. However, it could make sense long term to consolidate platforms.

    Hope this answers your question.
