Teams iPad app- Can't switch to participants view when someone is sharing screen

Previously our teachers would share their screen from their laptops while also viewing the participant view on their iPad to monitor their students.

Apparently a recent update to the teams app has taken away the ability to switch to the participant view when someone is presenting/sharing.  Is this an oversight?  Is anyone else seeing the same behavior?  Any workarounds?
