Custom background option is not showing.
- Jan 06, 2021
TheEarthIsFlatI would suggest checking the Teams Version it could be different than other users, besides check on the windows updates...
besides here is the manual way of setting up your custom background if the add new option is not showing...
To manually delete or add virtual backgrounds in Teams:
- Launch the File Explorer in Windows and add this location in the address/URL bar and press [Enter]:
%APPDATA%\Microsoft\Teams\Backgrounds - From here, you will see the pre-set backgrounds that you have worked with before in Teams. The Uploads folder is where you have your custom virtual backgrounds. So if you got a little bit excited about this option to add your own images and now you’ve changed your mind, you can remove them from the list that displays in the Teams Background settings.
- To delete the images you no longer want to work with, open the Uploads folder. Select and delete the images you don’t need. You can also copy in images to this folder as an alternative step for adding custom backgrounds.
- Close File Explorer when you’re done.
- Launch the File Explorer in Windows and add this location in the address/URL bar and press [Enter]:
Just to add - bizarrely I now find I can set the background option when accessing teams in browser - but enabling the change of background does NOT have any effect when using Desktop app even with same account...
Deleted and reinstalled app, have up to date version... nothing changes.
In the desktop app I can see the background options and the different choices, I can add a new background to the uploaded ones - I can enable and also click preview... but the background refuses to change -and I still have my camera view and the room behind me!

PDostiyar tried all suggestions it is the graphic card limited capability I am told. Which is strange because background option works on Web browser access but not in desktop app! Windows 10 and office 365 all freshly installed and updated as well as several uninstall and fresh install of teams. I can see the options to change or blur background in desktop mode and can even upload a background, but it does not preview or enable any changes

I am confused by this setting. Actually, when I host a Team Meeting, I can select a custom virtual background. However, if I join to another customer's team, all my custom virtual background are gone, only the blurred background appears.
