Allison Bates,

1. Service account credentials is used to get access token for every crawl (current token expiry window is 12 hours as mentioned in step 3.2).

2. If the password is changed, connector will not be able to get access token and the connection will fail.

3. We recommend you use a separate service account for connecting to Microsoft Search for easier maintenance. You can also use an existing user with appropriate permissions.
