Pin Open Internal Search Results in Bing for Business Tenant Setting is Missing

We have deployed Microsoft Search as our primary internal search tool. When we initially set up the service, we had the option to pin all interal results open in Bing for Business. Users are reporting that they now have to manually open the results and select the pin option for their account. This is causing a lot of complaints from our users. I went to the admin Microsoft Search console to check if someone accidently switched the "Pin Open" option off but I no longer see it there any more.

Why was this feature removed?

When will it be added again?

Is there a workaround for admins to force this setting?

My company would very much like this setting also. We are beta testing Bing for Business / MS Search and when there is not a bookmark/Q&A/location hit, the work results section shows up collapsed and we are finding many users are missing it. From a UX perspective, we see this as a show stopper. Otherwise, the experience and results from our beta test is quite good. I can however understand the flip side of a general Bing user searching for public content. So how about an alternative solution of adding an additional URL parameter such that visibility pin open can be controlled per URL call. In our case, we have an existing company intranet home page and would like to re-direct the search from this page to Bing for Business/ MS Search via a URL like below. This would allow companies to tailor the experience for internal search use cases while not impacting users who uses Bing for public searches.

As you noted, the ‘Pin Open’ option has been removed from all tenants. Here are some clarifications to your questions.

    Why was this feature removed?

We are constantly finding ways to improve MSB results and only show positive and relevant results. Based on user feedback we discovered that there was a desire to only show the MSB result when the relevance made sense (ie we have a high confidence the user is looking for a particular result.) We now give users the ability to control their experience, and don’t plan to support this at the tenant-wide level going forward.

Is there a workaround to force this setting?

Yes, users who would like to have the MSB card persist have the option to change the visibility settings, which will cause the card to show for each query in a given browser.

Also, B4b is now called Microsoft Search in Bing and the name change was announced at Ignite 2018.

Thank you very much for your response. We are unclear why this would be removed. By allowing this setting to be changed by our company admins you are giving users the ability to disable this. It wasn't  a setting that only Microsoft had access to. We have 35,000+ employees actively using Microsoft Search for intranet search. We would like this to be enabled for all 35,000+ users. Is there a way to enforce this via a registry key? This is a critical feature to smoothly and effectively drive adoption of Microsoft Search within our organization.

Thanks for the feedback on this feature and I will pass this to the engineering team.

Currently, there is no option for the admin to enforce the visibility setting for users.
