Are there any plans for releasing an API for Microsoft Search?

Are there any concrete plans to make Microsoft Search available for us that develop third-party solutions based on Office 365 through an API? Has any timeframe been shared that I somehow missed?   ...

    We are planning to release API's for Microsoft Search during 2019. At this time, we don't have more details for announcement.
