Advanced searches in Delve
What's up with the search in Delve? In pretty much all other Office products (e.g. SharePoint, Outlook, etc.) users can search using keywords/operators (AND and NOT) and quotes ("exact phrase") to he...
I think you have different concepts here:
- On the one hand, you have traditional search available through the classic search experience that provide the experience you are describing in your post.
- On the other hand, Delve and many other Office 365 places (new SPO Document Library, new SPO Lists, new Office 365 landing page) use the smart search approach at the scope of each app....for instance in Delve you can search content related on your boards....ad this smart search approach is powered by the Office Graph that in the end is based on search.
- Search and Discovery is something completely different...is more related to find what is happening with the information that is stored in Office 365 (mainly in SPO, ODFB and EXO)

- Hi Juan Carlos As a user, I only have 1 concept - finding information (web pages/documents/people) that I need. If this is not proactively presented to me based on my office graph (like Delve tries to do) then my next option is to specify exactly what I'm searching for. If the "smart" search is not "smart" enough - I should be able to give it a helping hand using keywords with AND, NOT and "" operators. With all the new products, colleagues are often confused about which product to use when and how to find what they're looking for. I'm one of a group of people in my department trying to educate people about all the O365 tools and sharing best practice. Previously, I would have thought that Delve would be the idea place for people to start as most relevant documents are served up without needing to search. However, when the document is not there, they now have to navigate away to somewhere else to perform a more intelligent search. Is this the user experience that Microsoft intended to deliver? What would be a better practice for people to follow?
- Ey Mark, to me the way to describe Delve is the following one: Delve is a place where you can see relevant documents you are working with (also e-mails received, Yammer conversations, etc) and also discover relevant documets your colleagues are working with. In regards of your search question, it's clear that Microsoft want every Office 365 user to use this smart search concept + recencet activity at different scopes (SharePoint Landing page, Document Libraries, SharePoint Lists). If you need a search experience where you want to provide users the ability to narrow search results, then you need to have an enterprise search in your SPO tenant + search verticals to be able to get search results from documents, people, video, etc.
