Web content filtering and indicator aren't working on third party browser
Is this still broken? that would be pretty bad if it was broken since June.... since it Mid November already it is still broken for me. Is there a certain platform # I have to be on now to get this start working for Chrome and Firefox? thanks for your help
This was working correctly, but now Google appears to have changed something in Chrome. Now the behavior we are seeing is that if we type in the full address such as dropbox.com, it blocks correctly (we have it scoped/unsanctioned. But if you do a search for Dropbox, and navigate there via the search results, you can get to the unsanctioned sites. Our Microsoft Defender Browser Protection is still enabled on Chrome with no changes there. We are going to open a ticket with Microsoft but suggest others do too, so we get some traction.

Good evening!
how are you?
I hope you're doing well
Is it necessary to use Microsoft Defender Browser Protection with Chrome?
What about Firefox?
I'm having problems with third-party browsers too.
Any suggestion?

Hi Nweber531,
No, you can have web content filtering apply only to edge browsers, however if you turn on 'Network Protection' it applies to all browsers and applications I believe. The feedback from Chrome and firefox is different from edge though. With edge you receive a Toast notification advising the domain being blocked, whereas Chrome and Firefox is like a time out or a generic 404 page.
You could probably achieve a similar protection through the enterprise policies related to each browser but it wouldn't use the allow/block list built into the defender platform.

Yes I know it wont act the same. We are past that point if you read the thread. The issue is the reliability in 3rd party browsers. Firefox is pretty consistent in terms of working. Chrome continues to change in ways that get around the blocks working

But then after the first time using the search results to get to a unsanctioned site, we are trying a second time and then the block is working correctly.
