Onboarding servers to MDE after September 2022

I noticed this too, and I'm also deeply suspicious that it's not supported.
It makes sense for Microsoft to require Arc for on-prem VMs as it's much more solid implementation, but can be costly unfortunately.
The weird things is that I was made aware of this method by someone in the past few weeks (no, not reddit!), it wasn't one I stumbled across by trial and error.

Azure Arc is free to use with Defender for Servers, so as long as you only use it for this, there should not be any additional cost.
- Ah ok, my mistake. I thought there were additional costs somewhere using Azure Arc.
