MS Defender app on Android device with VPN causing connection issues.
Good day everyone.
Recently some of our users have been reporting issues with the VPN used by the MS Defender app. It drops the internet connection. Sometimes for a few minutes. They have had to restart their phones to get it to work again. One of the users reported that they cannot access Youtube with this VPN on. If they switch off the VPN, this issue does not occur.
I believe there is a way to turn off the VPN but still allow for the web protection feature. Without having the local VPN setup, what protection feature is missing?
- Always on VPN is needed for Web protection to function. I have personally not experienced the issue you are describing nor I am aware of any ongoing issues. Maybe opening a case with MS will be the right course of action.
