Microsoft Defender for Endpoint P2

Hello,

Currently my organization is on a trial for MDE P2, however, I cannot purchase this through the Admin portal. It does not give me the option. We have M365 E3 licenses.

 

1. Is it true that M365 E5 has MDE P2 baked in?

 

2. If we don't upgrade to E5, how do we purchase as an add-on? Are these in preview as an add-on and that's why we can't purchase?

    Yes, E5 comes with MDE plan 2. You can certainly use the MDE plan 2 add on with E3. Speak to your licensing partner for guidance.

      Thank you for the reply! Is this not available for direct purchase through Microsoft? We would like to continue working direct if possible, however, the admin portal does not give the option to add licenses like with any of our other licenses. Trial is the only option, and we have to renew it monthly.

        As far as I know direct purchase should work, but I have also faced all kind of issues dealing with trial licenses. You can try raising a support ticket, but if you have a licensing partner then it might just be easier and quicker for you to purchase and subscribe the right licenses.
