Hello all, We have recently configured Web Content Filtering. I am struggling with finding what is required to have the setup effect on Chrome and Firefox, exactly as it is seen via Edge. Has ...

Ah, so out Defender portal is managed externally, and i see this setting is turned off. Is this a 100% needed for it to work with Chrome/firefox?
Also, IF the defender is not passive, with this option off, it should work?

for sure it's needed. (EDR) in block mode provides added protection from malicious artifacts when Microsoft Defender Antivirus is not the primary antivirus product and is running in passive mode.
- Oct 10, 2023With EDR mode you dont need those , those were registries suggested by the MS team in case chrome and firefox are not blocking blocked categories but i think now the issue were fixed when you have network protection enabled and EDR in block mode if your defender is not the primary AV
- MagsonOct 10, 2023Copper ContributorAs a FYI, we did not need this -
./Device/Vendor/MSFT/Defender/Configuration/DisableHttpParsing
./Device/Vendor/MSFT/Defender/Configuration/DisableDnsOverTcpParsing - Oct 10, 2023

- MagsonOct 10, 2023Copper ContributorHi all
We have an understanding now. One, the 3rd party provider of our defender can not turn on EDR block mode as causes issues with 3rd party AV. Also, we need to have Windows defender active, and not passive along side a 3rd party AV. Once the 3rd party AV is removed, Web filtering works fine.
Thank you all - MagsonOct 10, 2023Copper ContributorOk I will test a device without 3rd party AV AND reach out to my defender provider. Thank you.
