Defender for Server: Azure or License based?
Hello!
In October of 2022, Microsoft took the Defender for Endpoint Server sku off the price file and replaced with with Defender for Endpoint plan 1 and plan 2 which are purchased through Azure. Our company started migrating customers from the old sku to the new azure model and all was well. For the last six months or more, Defender for Server is now showing up on our NCE price file once more. After Microsoft told me so start selling the consumption sku, I am now unsure what my next move should be. Are you selling both products? Is there a use case for each? Anyone had any experience wit this issue?
Thanks in advance!

You can enable it directly through Defender for Cloud or purchase a separate Defender for Server license subscription.
- Chris_toffer0707Iron ContributorHi. I cannot tell you what way to go with, but I can tell you that in our company (Fellowmind) we only sell Microsoft Defender for Servers to customers via Azure consumption.
Also, if I check the Partner Center, a lot of Defenders SKUs can be sold to customers, however Defender for Servers is not listed (Only Defender for Business Servers, which is an add-on).- MollyE95Copper Contributor
Hey Chris! Thanks for your response. My price file (located in the US) does show the following product "Microsoft Defender for Endpoint Server" in all verticals on my price file as well as the Defender for Business Server which you previously mentioned. We have been going with the Azure version pretty exclusively for about a year but when this sku popped up, it got us wondering.
