Group Join Mail sent out to soon? Access denied in SharePoint

Hi,

Did anyone else notice that the email confirmation message for a group join is being sent out sooner than before lately?

Previously I had to wait 1-2h to get the notification.

Lately I've been receiving message within minutes which itself is not bad, but everytime the SharePoint permissions just aren't there yet. From the past I alway knew that SharePoint permissions take a little longer to calculate if they are direct permissions.

Can anyone confirm the same behaviour in their tenant? Ours is first release full tenant.

Yes, I've been experiencing this behavior frequently, at least with external users. They click the "Read Group Files" in the welcome email and are no granted access to the SharePoint document library. I've also had some external users be unable to access the SharePoint team site after previously having access. Obviously, that's a jarring user experience. I have an open support request with Microsoft on these issues and will try to follow-up whenever I get a resolution. So far, rather than resolve problems I've only stumbled into more issues. For example, I just noticed that this problematic Group can't be managed within Outlook; I'm able to manage others group I've created within the program.

  • I'm just experiencing the opposite...I have always a delay of minutes since I create the Group from OWA and I have the message in my inbox that everything is fine...and this is even worst when creating a modern team site, I get the notification after 20-30 minutes. Very random and not reliable behavior
