Cannot leave an organisation as guest in Microsoft teams

the scenario:  A user has migrated from one Microsoft Office tenant to another including the original domain.  A organization invited this user to collaborate in their Teams in his original tenant (which he still has access too, but his domain has changed).  he has successfully left the guest organisation by going to his security info page and manage organisation section.  so both accounts is all clear.

However, in teams we can still see the external organisation BUT when clicking into it, it just errors out.

we need to get this cleaned as we have asked to organisation to resend the invite.  however, when they do that, it comes up with 'something went wrong. please try again later'
