Microsoft doesn't report what exactly happened.
They do this to 'protect' to inner workings of Identity Protection.
This might be because future logins came from known IPs/devices

I guess you are right, it would be nice to have a few details on it from Microsoft.

But they do it to protect the service from malicious users so that they are unable to circumvent IDP
