Error 65000 with Settings Catalog
DuncMarsh
Did you ever find a resolution to "The system cannot find the file specified" error when using the Policy CSP option to hide News and Interests? I am getting the same error. Attached is a screenshot.
And yes, the Feeds.admx file is present on this computer.
Amos I've been working with Intune support. They have stated that this should work with Win10 business licenses. If I manually enroll the device this setting works through Intune, but when enrolling the device using autopilot it fails. At this point Intune believes it may be a bug with Intune.
- hwallisctSep 28, 2022Copper ContributorIt is almost October, where is the fix?
- MichaelOlivSep 02, 2022Iron ContributorThanks @rudy.
I did what you explain for windows 11 and it seems to work.
Too bad we have to block widgets and not just **bleep** msn news. - stuartconroyAug 10, 2022Copper Contributor
I hope this may help others.
I was seeing this issue on some computers but most were working OK.
All have Window 10 Pro 21H2.
I noticed the affected computers were listed as "Personal" devices in InTune/Endpoint and changing them to Corporate fixed it for me.
- Jul 05, 2022I know... 🙂 sometimes its the flow... that the policy is deployed before the admx itself... You could always tag mike danoski on twitter 😉
- FergusStrachanJul 05, 2022Copper ContributorI can't believe this issue is still going.
I'm unable to configure time sync settings on my Win 10 Business devices because of the 65000 error, which I guess is another of those "It should work on Pro and above but whoops it actually doesn't"?
😕 - Jun 14, 2022Nope not yet but I am assuming I am one of the first to know... (hopefully 😛 )

Hi Rudy_Ooms_MVP, do you know if there is an ETA for the fix?
- Jun 07, 2022A fix is on its way 🙂
- Jun 06, 2022Hi as also posted on reddit https://call4cloud.nl/2022/06/cve-2022-30190-and-the-city-of-thousand-solutions/

I’m having the same trouble with rolling out a change via intune to disable MSDT (settings catalog). It works for Win 10 Pro, but not for Win 10 Bus (error code 65000). It should work because I’m using 21H2 on both systems.
I’ve described the scenario in REDDIT here: https://www.reddit.com/r/Intune/comments/v6jkwl/exploring_the_intune_error_65000_issue_on_two/ - mgonzalezkasilhMay 09, 2022Copper Contributor
Hey Rudy,
I'm configuring the DenyLocalLogOn setting through Settings Catalog for a couple of test devices, and even though the setting is correctly applied (the local GPO contains the group indicated in the setting) plus Event Viewer generates an Information event and not an Error one, it shows an error 65000 & type 2 within Intune.
Do you know if it's just a visual reporting error or something like that? I've tried to create a filter which contains my test machines, after reading your suggestion, but no luck yet...
Thanks,
Best regards
- May 04, 2022Nice to hear!! Going to update my blog to make sure other people are reading it as well!
- JimmyWorkMay 04, 2022Iron ContributorWorking perfectly no more error 🙂
- JimmyWorkMay 04, 2022Iron ContributorWill update you, already had filters created so running it now 🙂
- May 04, 2022
If you have configured it like
And
And if it works... please let me know so I could update my blog 😛 otherwise I need to start testing myself
- JimmyWorkMay 04, 2022Iron ContributorThanks 🙂
- May 04, 2022I guess you will need to make sure you have created a policy for windows 10 devices (filtering) and select the news and feeds in the settings catalog and also create a separate policy targeting Windows 11 and selecting the widgets option in the settings catalog
- JimmyWorkMay 04, 2022Iron ContributorThat might be it, I have both disable news and Disable Widgets. Due to policy hitting Windows 10 and 11 devices. But i be more then happy to remove the old disable news and..
Is there any documentation regarding this and when will it say decrepitated on the old policy for news in Intune? - May 04, 2022
I first need to testdrive something else... after that I will wipe my test device and enroll it again with that same build to check out what's happening underneath (already added the disable news and... in intune)
EDIT: wait...Windows 11 and feeds... isn't that replaced with the widgets? you need to configure to not allowed? (instead of the feeds)
- JimmyWorkMay 04, 2022Iron ContributorWindows 11 Enterprise.
21H2
Build: 22000.613
This device came with Windows 11 Home from the start.
Upgraded using Pro Key.
User with A5 licenses logs on upgrades to Enterprise.
The device have been wiped and fresh reset also used. - May 04, 2022Okay... which windows 11 version/build are you using?
- JimmyWorkMay 04, 2022Iron ContributorYes, i did not download or install the admx templates on the device because this is not something I should have to do.
And i can confirm that file is missing, there is no Feeds folder on Windows 11 in the registry. - May 04, 2022Mmm... windows 11 and giving that error seems weird 🙂
Did you take a look at the troubleshooting steps in this blog?
https://call4cloud.nl/2021/07/65000-days-of-night/ - JimmyWorkMay 04, 2022Iron ContributorWindows 11 Enterprise enrolled in Autopilot.
Checked and the file is not available on the system.
MDM ConfigurationManager: Command failure status. Configuration Source ID: (4ED2BB8C-C735-44FE-8683-4DD7FCBB4288), Enrollment Name: (MDMDeviceWithAAD), Provider Name: (Policy), Command Type: (Add: from Replace or Add), CSP URI: (./Device/Vendor/MSFT/Policy/Config/Feeds/FeedsEnabled), Result: (The system cannot find the file specified.). - May 04, 2022Could you explain it on what device configuration profile you are getting this error?
