License for Multi Tenant Setup
rr_mstechnology Hi, as for User R who is part of Tenant A with an M365 license and accesses files in Tenant B, an additional license in Tenant B is not required if the user merely collaborates on files. In fact, synchronization between tenants allows users licensed in one tenant to access shared content in another tenant without requiring a duplicate license, as long as the user logs in as a guest or external user.
In contrast, for User M, who is an external guest in Tenant B, an M365 license from Tenant B is not required to access and collaborate on shared files. In fact, Microsoft 365 allows unlicensed external guests to perform basic collaboration tasks such as viewing, editing, or commenting on documents in OneDrive, SharePoint, and Teams.
What are the scenario is which User R would explicitly require license from Tenant B?
Can we allocate Onedrive for business in Tenant B for User R apart from his OneDrive for business from Tenant A? So that Tenant B data never leaves its premises. Is it a common scenario?

-Advanced collaboration on Microsoft Teams.
-OneDrive for Business Separate in Tenant B: If the user requires separate OneDrive storage space in Tenant B, separate from Tenant A, a license in Tenant B is required to manage and access this additional space.
Separate OneDrive for Business in Tenant B for User R
It is possible to create a separate OneDrive for Business in Tenant B for User R, distinct from his OneDrive in Tenant A. However, this configuration requires the assignment of a Microsoft 365 license in Tenant B to activate and manage the storage. Although technically feasible, assigning a separate OneDrive in Tenant B for a user with a primary license in Tenant A is not very common.

For the User M (Consultant), who is an external guest in Tenant B and got an unlicensed external guests to perform basic collaboration. Whether by default he will get OneDrive for business to store files in Tenant B? If not is there a way for Admin to allocate the same?rr_mstechnology No, he does not automatically receive a OneDrive for Business as Microsoft 365 reserves it for licensed internal users.
If it is necessary for User M to have a space to store files in Tenant B, assign a license to User M in Tenant B so he can have a dedicated OneDrive.
