Warning when auto-save when OneDrive is not signed in?

Hello,

When I recently worked on a document I noticed that AutoSave was not turned on, this was due to OneDrive not being signed in.

My question is should Word/Excel/PowerPoint warn you when OneDrive is not signed in, meaning that Autosave would not work.

Thanks, Justin

  • Hi Justin_Stratton ,

OneDrive does not warn you. In the event your OneDrive closes or stops syncing, your changes will be saved on your computer. Once you sign in to OneDrive or open it again, it will sync up your changes.

it will not as AutoSave is available when a file is saved to Microsoft OneDrive or SharePoint in Microsoft 365 so if you are not login to Onedrive Autosave doesn't work but you need to save or open the file from within Excel, PowerPoint, or Word to switch it on.

You also need an active Microsoft 365 subscription for your onedrive and Auto save to work.
