Business Glossary improvement ideas
It doesn’t appear as if you can easily move a term in the business glossary from one domain (eg finance to marketing). Workaround is to delete and recreate, which is inefficient.
a full audit history of a glossary term available within the GUI would be great for organisations that want full traceability / transparency (so suggest implementing this as a purview admin setting).
We are enabling the glossary term movement between governance domains in the next couple of months as part of the glossary migration capability in the roadmap. MS-Purview-Data-Governance-Roadmap-detailed.pdf This will help to leverage glossary terms that may have existed in Azure Purview as classic type glossary terms as well as transition them between domains.
Auditability is also something we are working on this semester starting with the access request and approval actions. This will encompass all changes made in the Unified Catalog as we continue to add auditability. It sounds like this ask though is more about providing visibility not just to edits of a term but the life cycle of terms and how they are leveraged overtime, this is something we are considering as we enhance some features that are coming soon in public preview.
