Window 10 update
hi jdrabourn It sounds like the Windows update may have failed or become stuck during startup, which can cause freezing at the login screen.
Since you cannot log in normally, try getting into the Windows Recovery Environment:
- Turn the PC on
- As soon as Windows starts loading, hold the power button to force it off
- Repeat this 3 times
Windows should eventually show:
Preparing Automatic Repair
From there, try:
Troubleshoot → Advanced Options → Startup Repair
If that does not help, try:
Uninstall latest quality update
Or
System Restore (if restore points are available)
You can also try booting into:
Startup Settings → Safe Mode
to see if Windows will load with minimal drivers.
The incorrect date/time you saw can sometimes happen after a failed update or forced shutdown and does not necessarily mean the hardware is bad.
Hopefully Startup Repair or uninstalling the latest update gets you back in without needing a reinstall.
