Skype Calling
Apologies in advance if this is not the best forum for this, but I am highly frustrated and desperate for a solution to my problem.
I was a happy Skype user until Microsoft took it over, and used the Skype calling feature frequently. I had a credit balance, but now that there is Teams, I seem to be unable to sign in with my old Skype ID and have to use the Microsoft one, and then find going to the Skype Dial Pad through teams, it says I have no credit!!!
My other problem is that my personal email address mailto:email address removed for privacy reasons seems to have been disabled as a sign-in for Microsoft - I'm not sure why, and all attempts to reset it have failed.....
I tried posting on Facebook, but got a suspicious response and am reluctant to give sign-on details to this person.
PLEASE can someone help?

a.Recover Old Skype Account or Merge with Microsoft Account
- Go to Microsoft Account Recovery.
- Enter your old Skype ID (or email if you remember it) and follow the process.
- You’ll be asked to verify using previous contact info or answer security questions.
If you get a message like “This account doesn’t exist,” it may have been deleted or deactivated due to inactivity. If that's the case, unfortunately, credit may be unrecoverable unless you contact Microsoft Support (more below).
b.Skype Credit Missing in Teams
Skype and Teams use separate systems. You can’t use Skype Credit through Teams unless it's explicitly set up in a linked way — and in most cases, it's not.
Fix:
- Instead of Teams, go to the actual Skype desktop app or the website:
https://web.skype.com - Sign in with your Microsoft account (the one your Skype is now linked to).
- Click on your profile → Manage account → Check Skype Credit there.
- If the credit isn’t there, you might be using a different account (even a minor variation in email can create a new Microsoft identity).
c.Fix Disabled/Unusable Email
If your personal email can't be used to sign in to Microsoft services:
- Try https://account.live.com/password/reset
- If reset fails, you’ll need to submit an account recovery form:
https://account.live.com/acsr - Use an alternate email to receive replies from Microsoft.
If Microsoft says the account doesn't exist, it may have been:
- Deleted due to inactivity (typically after 2 years of no login).
- Never fully migrated from Skype to Microsoft (pre-2013 users sometimes face this).

- Go to: https://support.microsoft.com
- Search for Skype Credit or account recovery, then select "Contact Support".
- Choose Skype > Account and Sign-in > Chat with an agent.
