Inbox / Private messages broken on my profile
CA-Callahan _MoZZa Ramona_Maxwell
please try again, a fix was released in the most recent build which should fix this for most users - there is one other bug we are tracking which we hope to have fixed soon.
It appears to be working, mostly!
BUT-- it takes FOREVER to load. If people are expecting it to work, they will assume it is still broken because it easily takes a full minute to load anything on the page. I expect people are likely to get timeout errors in some situations because of how long it takes.
But if you can wait, it does seem to show the inbox again. And I replied to a message I was sent a very long time ago, and they did get the reply in their inbox. So the needle has moved, and that's good.

You are correct, I didn't tell you all was well yet because they are still working on why its taking so long to load and also why the sent box will frequently not load.
I probably should have said 'hey... its fixed.. kinda' but I will let you know once behaviour is more 'normal'- Jun 13, 2025
Well that's hopeful progress but I'm still curious whether anything valuable is hiding in the 99+ messages in my inbox! It is odd that Microsoft's own communities are tolerating such a basic feature being broken.

Thank you for posting, I am not sure I would categorize either private messages as a basic function or that we are tolerating it.
The Aurora update to the Microsoft Tech Community was a fundamental refactor of the underlying stack that powers the community and, despite our best planning, there have been some issues with it since launch in November last year. We are working through and addressing them with the engineering team based on priority and impact of the bug / issue identified.
Of the total active members around 10-15% of users have been impacted by this issue and less than 5% are still having issues.
I am hoping we have the final issues solved in either the very next release of the core platform or the one immediately after it, but I hope you can see we are not tolerating it - just prioritizing it. We are currently testing to confirm this and hope to have more to share shortly.Allen
