Preparing for SC-100: Which Practice Resources and Real-World Scenarios Should I Focus On?
Hello everybody,
I'm studying for the Microsoft SC-100 Cybersecurity Architect certification and would like to get advice from those who already have the certification or are working as security architects at Microsoft. At the moment I'm following the Microsoft Learn course, but it seems quite difficult for me to develop a practical approach using these materials. The certification has multiple focus areas such as Zero Trust, identity and access, security operations, infrastructure protection, and application and data security. I know a lot of topics individually, but I want to be able to select a proper security architecture in case there are several requirements in a scenario. For instance, while developing a solution for a hybrid environment, how do you select controls that will deal with identity, network access, data protection, monitoring, and recovery at once? I would also like to find any SC 100 exam questions and other scenario-based practice material. Do you have any tips on how to prepare for SC-100? Are the data on practice assessment and exam readiness sufficient for the identification of knowledge areas that need improvement, or do you think it is better to spend time on architectural diagrams and practice? Any recommendations from people who recently prepared for the test will be very useful. In which of the skills did you have to invest the greatest amount of time?

I’m preparing for SC-100 as well, and I’ve found that understanding how different security controls work together is more challenging than learning each technology individually. For example, in a hybrid environment, you need to consider identity protection, network access, data security, threat monitoring, and recovery together rather than treating them as separate tasks.
I’d suggest starting with the https://learn.microsoft.com/en-us/credentials/certifications/resources/study-guides/sc-100 and using its exam objectives to structure your revision. The https://learn.microsoft.com/en-us/credentials/certifications/exams/sc-100/ and free practice assessment are also useful for identifying weaker areas.
I’m also using SC 100 exam questions as additional practice to check my understanding of scenario-based decisions. My approach is to review why an option fits the business requirements, compare it with the alternatives, and revisit the concepts behind any mistakes. I think combining this with architecture diagrams and practical scenarios is more useful than memorizing answers alone.
For those who have already taken the exam, did you find the biggest challenge was understanding the technologies themselves or choosing the best architecture when several solutions seemed reasonable? I’d especially appreciate examples of practice scenarios that helped you improve your decision-making.
