Popular items view does not seem current.
The popular items view on the home page of this community is showing posts that are very old. I doubt that posts from 2016 are still the most popular things in this community. Please investigate and fix if necesary.

Poplar posts is calculated from a mixture of metrics but one that had a big impact is the number of views. You would be surprised how many posts from a few years ago still get allot of traffic.
If you can share a link to the specific thread that is generating concern I would be happy to investigate
