Following is a title in image 2.. its showing you the boards you're following in the current node its not indicating that your following that category, there is follow button at the top right of the category to follow it.
2. Can you clarify what preferences you are looking for?
3. Follow members is not currently support in aurora, coming soon though.
4. Also not seen this, can you share more details
5. it simply means its auto saving your draft every few seconds.
