Microsoft Teams on Mac OS - screen share is blurry
hello eleromeo This is a known issue that some users experience with Microsoft Teams on macOS, particularly on MacBook models with Retina displays (such as the M1/M2/M3 series). Because of the way macOS handles high-resolution scaling, Teams sometimes downscales and compresses shared content, which can make slides or text look slightly blurry for meeting participants.
A few suggestions you can try:
Use PowerPoint Live – Instead of sharing your screen, upload your presentation using Share > PowerPoint Live in Teams. This provides the clearest experience for attendees.
Share a specific window instead of the entire desktop – This can sometimes reduce blurriness.
Adjust your display scaling – In System Settings > Displays, try setting your resolution to Default for display instead of a scaled option.
Toggle hardware acceleration – Under Teams > Settings > General, try turning hardware acceleration for video on or off and see if it improves clarity.
Test with the Teams web client – In some cases, using Teams in Safari, Chrome, or Edge can result in clearer shared content.
External monitor test – If available, try sharing from a non-Retina external monitor to see if the issue persists.
At the moment, the most reliable way to ensure crystal clear slides is to use PowerPoint Live. Microsoft is continuing to improve Teams for macOS, but these steps may help as workarounds in the meantime.
Hope this helps!
