Sync problems

Just started getting this error message:

We're sorry something went wrong during sync. We'll try again later. (error code oxE4010649)

I've got final assessments coming up and the students work isnt syncing!

Any ideas?

  • Can you add a few more details.

    OS

OneNote version (online, app, desktop - 2013 or 2016)

    all or some students

all or some of the time

at home or at school or both

Some common causes of syncing errors for our organisation include:

    * Different versions of OneNote in operation

    * Syncing problems localised to a location (e.g. related to home based internet policies etc)

    * Authentication changes (e.g. a password change or different process)

    Three options:

    1) Ensure everyone is running the latest version of OneNote if using the desktop apps

    2) Close OneNote Notebook files and reopen them

    3) Sign out of Office entirely and then resign in and reopen the notebooks

After that things get into the more drastic territory like reimagine badly behaving machines and turfing OneNote Notebooks that are being problematic.

    Good luck!

      Thanks Andrew

OS W 7 on school lab machines

      One Note 2016 Professional Plus)

      All (All the time)

Between my laptop (W10 running O365 pro plus)

The only change that has happened in recent weeks is I un-installed Professional Plus 2016 from my laptop and installed O365 Pro plus (I posted a message about this a while ago)

I'm now getting conflicing page errors, where I've never had them.

None of your suggestions fixed the problem.

It seems likely to me that there is a problem between the schools' install of Professional Plus 2016 and my own install of Office 365 Pro Plus.

This could be a major problem if its true- we know that Microsoft are not updating Professional Plus 2016 with all the latest OneNote functionality, thus forcing schools to install Office 365 pro plus, if they want to stay current. This means that our IT support  (outsourced) will have lost control of updates (among other implications for the management of out network).
