Restoring deleted Class Notebook Pages and Sections
I share your frustration. The current Class Notebook architecture can make restoring deleted student content surprisingly difficult. While Microsoft documentation suggests recovery through OneDrive or the notebook recycle bin, many administrators have found that deleted pages and sections created in the web client do not always appear in recoverable locations, especially when version history is limited or not enabled.
The distributed storage model—spanning SharePoint, Site Assets, Teams, and student-owned notebook content—adds another layer of complexity for backup and recovery solutions. Even third-party Microsoft 365 backup platforms can struggle to provide granular restoration of individual notebook pages or sections.
In educational environments, reliable recovery of student work is critical, and the lack of a straightforward restore mechanism remains a significant concern. Hopefully Microsoft will improve this functionality in future updates.
We've seen similar discussions in online learning environments where preserving student work is essential, including educational platforms such as QuranPakTutors.com, where content retention and recovery are important considerations for both teachers and learners.
Supporting the existing feedback request and continuing to raise awareness with Microsoft is likely the best path forward until a more robust recovery solution is provided.
