Hello All,

Do we know when connecting Purview to Snowflake using key pair authentication, will be available or announced? and what are the other options available?

  • Hello Vishal!Thank you for reaching out!

Currently Purview doesn't support connecting to Snowflake using key-pair authentication. Currently, what is supported is the basic authentication with.

There is no official information about adding key-pair authentication as a future feature, but I would encourage that you can keep an eye on Microsoft's documentation for updates:

    https://learn.microsoft.com/en-us/purview/register-scan-snowflake

Meanwhile, allow me to reach out to the product team to understand the status of this feature and I can revert on any updates on the thread.

    • Snowflake already has announced the time schedule for deprecation of password-only sign-in.

        https://docs.snowflake.com/en/user-guide/security-mfa-rollout
Jun. 2025 - Aug. 2025 Mandatory MFA for all Snowsight users
Aug. 2025 - Oct. 2025 Mandatory MFA for all new human users
Nov. 2025 - Jan. 2026 No new legacy service users
Mar. 2026 - May. 2026 Mandatory MFA for all human users
Jun. 2026 - Aug. 2026 No legacy service users

Do you have a plan to support key-pair authentication and others, except password-only on Snowflake intagration?
