SIMPLY BACKUP

I just want to make a simple backup of some folders in my server, somehow I was able to create the backup, (still running after 12 hrs) BUT the **bleep** thing only backup my local drives and can't even see my network drives, is this even possible?
Any help (even NO) will be appreciated.

    Could you expand on the setup.
    are you using recovery services ?
    Do you need multiple versions ?
    What about retention ?
    Amount of data you would like to backup ?
    how do you want to restore them ?
    Why are you running the backup from your computer and not from the server running the file shares ?
