Hybrid Azure - many problems
Background: About 2years ago, a previous system administrator setup Azure and has it syncing with our on-prem AD. He is no longer here and I have been tasked with setting up Hybrid Azure / Intune / WHfB.
All of our current devices synced from AD show in Azure as "Azure AD registered" & Owner "xxxxx". We decommissioned our old server that had AAD Connect, created a new one with AAD Connect, and set it up to use Hybrid Azure AD join. We are seeing this issue:
Devices will show a duplicate device with a "$" at the end of the name. The device with "$" shows Join Type as "Hybrid Azure AD joined", Owner as "N/A" and Registered as "Pending". The original device (no "$") shows Join Type as "Azure AD registered", Owner as "xxxxx" and Registered as "date, time". It seems that updating the laptops past 1809 helps delete the "$". However, when enrolling the device in Intune, we get the "Your device is already connected to your organization" error message. After reading online, we found that Company Portal is buggy and when we first join the device to our domain, we have to uncheck the "Let my organization manage my device" checkbox. Then it'll allow us to enroll into the Company Portal. However, this then recreates another device in Azure. So the "Azure AD registered" device shows as "Intune enrolled" rather than the "Hybrid Azure AD joined" device showing it.

- jpark2336Copper ContributorFunnily enough, I think I've found a "fix". After updating a laptop past 1809, it should automatically delete the "$" duplicate. If not, we can delete it (the "Azure AD registered" one). I would still run into the "Your device is already connected to your organization" error message.
If you go to your Laptop settings and go to the "Access work or school" tab, there's an option to "enroll your device only in device management". I was able to enroll the device this way and the "Hybrid Azure AD joined" device now shows as the "Intune enrolled" device.
However, our devices still show as Owner being "N/A".
