how long does a migration of data from Jira typically take?
Hello all;
I'm brand new to this community but also just learned about the existence of Azure DevOps. Right now we're currently using Jira and Confluence and these tools I've been using for over 10 years in various companies. My current company IT Director wants to move us away from Atlassian and instead using Azure DevOps. No one on our development team have used Azure DevOps where all have experience in using Atlassian products (although not as long as me).
Beyond the concern about the learning curve where we have a very short timeline (less than 4 months) for training and migration away from Atlassian, my Senior Director of Engineering and I have grave concerns about 2 points:
1. How long can we expect our IT Director can configure our Azure DevOps software to be immediately usable for planning our projects?
2. Then, how long of a process would it be for us to migrate our data into the brand new configuration of Azure DevOps?
Keep in mind, we don't do continuous releases nor can we do continuous integration because we're highly regulated environment. We're very much working in a Waterfall SDLC with slight agile practices.
Many thanks for your assistance in this?

I have been working for a year now as TFS4JIRA support, the application that can help with the migration you are asking for. In case you would require more information or a DEMO please simply write a request to email address removed for privacy reasons.
As for your question, it's hard exactly to say, not knowing what is the amount of data and how many details you wish to transfer from one environment to another. Just by checking current statuses, I can see that 10k issues are transferred within 3h by TFS4JIRA Cloud Native. I do realize this is just a small step in the whole migration process, but If you would like to discuss my previous experience with migrations, I would be happy to meet with you and discuss it.
Best regards
