Archive Blob
Am I right in thinking that it is not possible to read/write directly to an archive blob? I'm assuming that, to get data into and out of an archive blob, it needs to go via a hot/cool tier?

- you are correct, you set the achieve tier on blob level only.
Microsoft wrote the following - This tier is intended for data that can tolerate several hours of retrieval latency.
