AI
Ever think about how far AI has come, especially because of Elon Musk and John McCarthy contributing, but if you told someone about Siri, Cortana, or ChatGPT, people would think you crazy for talking to a computer and think that it was a movie fantasy.

Really insightful points, everyone! It’s exciting to think how far AI has come from early assistants like Wanderlust to today’s models and I agree that balancing innovation with energy efficiency and ethical development is key as we move toward AGI

Man, sometimes I just sit and think about how wild all this AI stuff is now. Like... we’re actually talking to computers. Not pressing buttons or typing in commands — actually talking. And they reply like they get it. That would've sounded completely insane not too long ago.
I mean, imagine trying to explain something like ChatGPT or Siri to someone in the early 2000s. "Yeah, I just ask my phone to write stuff or help me code." They’d probably laugh and say you’ve been watching too many movies.
It’s crazy how people like John McCarthy planted the seeds for all this decades ago, and now it’s just part of our daily life. Elon Musk too — he definitely played a role in pushing AI into the spotlight, for better or worse.
I don’t know, man. Sometimes it really hits me — we’re living in a time that used to be science fiction. Makes you wonder what’s next. Like... if this is normal now, what’s gonna feel normal 10 years from today?
Just one of those random late-night thoughts...

I agree it has come a long way and it is amazing to see. But at the same time it is important for it to be governed properly. Training large models can consume a lot of power - in a similar light it can also use a lot of energy to cool data centres. Which is why we should be encouraging the use of renewable energy and trying to develop more efficient hardware and algorithms.

We are now at the path of consuming large energy, but once AI become powerful enough. AI can lead the innovation of developing renewable energy at a rapid exponential speed and building their own AI that saves power instead of consume.

Absoutely, renewable and sustainable use of energy in developing efficient hardware and algorithms is very important; however, AI is growing really quickly

You're right, AI is indeed evolving at an exponential space! We might get Artificial General Intelligence by 2030s
