Great explanation of how MCP can bridge AI agents with Business Central.
One use case I would be interested in exploring is AI-assisted inventory and planning analysis in Business Central. For example, an agent could analyse inventory availability, demand forecasts, safety stock, open purchase/transfer orders and planning worksheet suggestions, and then explain in natural language why a particular item is expected to face a shortage.
Another useful scenario could be allowing users to ask questions such as "Which items are likely to run below safety stock in the next 30 days, and what supply orders are already planned?" The agent could retrieve the relevant Business Central data through MCP and provide the user with the supporting information before any action is taken.
It would be interesting to see how MCP could be used for this type of read/analysis-first scenario while keeping actual Business Central transactions subject to the normal validation and approval controls.
