Hi Island_Tom I am working for a DELL Platinum Partner and a such not only invest some of my free time into WAC but also the digging into DELL OpenManage for WAC and help DELL to improve.
With the lastest version of this plugin they have made substantial progress on my feedback:
- progress bar for downloads of DELL updates (currently only in cluster aware patching mode)
- asking for credentials a second time.
> Mind the plugin does not support single sign on of WAC via Kerberos Delegation.
> Each time, you need to specifically authenticate via WAC "connect as" button before connecting to the target DELL Server System and using the plugin.
> The plugin still expects to authenticate as contoso\username instead of UPN email address removed for privacy reasons
If you don't it will fail in the download or inventory stage
- make sure the IDRAC FW is the latest (always), when stuck needed upgrade manually. in very rare cases a reboot of IDRAC is needed
- make sure WAC gateway does NOT reside on the same machine where you open the WAC webpage + DELL Open Manage Plugin. The DELL Plugin does not support this
- Infrastructure lock needs special IDRAC version.
- if you need to patch cluster aware your IDRAC needs to be IDRAC enterprise licensed + WAC licensed (perpetual addon license, can be obtained with a server or post sales - each have different DELL SKUs. The WAC licenses are different (in pricing and featureset) whether you are using single / clustered / S2D or Azure Stack HCI
- Recommended is IDRAC Enterprise as common minimum, in general.
Does this help, please let me know if this solved your issues or where you are stuck.
