Is this intended for use with shared storage (fc/iscsi attached) hyperv clusters or only for HCI clusters? It seems that this for HCI but maybe I’m missing something?
Hi Andrew_Allston - This is designed for all types of virtualization infrastructure. By changing the view to the storage view, you should be able to see SAN, NAS, or HCI devices (HCI will live both in compute and storage views). These can be onboarded to vMode through the same add resource wizard and selecting the storage profile. I didn't go into too much detail on this but please see the section labelled, What is Windows Admin Center: Virtualization Mode. In the video montage, you can briefly see storage devices in the hierarchy when the views change.
Note: As this is a preview, there is limited functionality. We're bringing out additional SAN and NAS integration in PP2 scheduled for early spring.

Thanks Dan, I guess my confusion comes from the Network ATC stuff. And in that montage, they select only management adapters, which just confuses me since they select the compute, storage and management as the intent. I still feel like I'm missing something, and I'm not sure if it's because it's a preview or it's me. When the SAN features get added, will the storage intent requirement be removed?

Microsoft
Hi Andrew_Allston - We use Network ATC to configure Windows side networking. So in the case where you're onboarding a SAN device, that won't be there. To your comment about preview, you're right that there's more coming. We have only basic functionality for onboarding storage and networking devices at present.
Summary: Whenever the system is Windows (regardless of profile), you'll be required to use Network ATC for host network configuration (this is coming to Windows Server 2022 systems soon as well so those hosts can be onboarded). If the system is not-Windows, then Network ATC (along with our agent, etc.) doesn't apply to that system but the system would still be displayed, in this case, the storage view for a SAN device.
tl;dr
To the confusion in the montage video, I think that's just an oversight when the video was created. We were trying to make a very quick video to demonstrate capabilities so the video creator just selected management/compute/storage (because all 3 are required on a Compute/Hyper-V host) and selected two "symmetric adapters" (Name, Speed, Model) as required by Network ATC. Eventually, you'll be able to view these configurations in the Networking view but that's not available yet.
