MicrosoftTomer_Reisner Sorry I am late to the party. I support a large Azure customer who implemented Microsoft Defender for Cloud (MDC) and then enabled its Defender for Servers Plan 2. Both MDC Server plans 1 & 2 include MDE P2 so this question applies to both.
Since this customer is only E3, they get the entitlement to MDE P2 via the cost they pay per server in MDC. There is a backend registration that occurs when servers (VMs) in Azure on onboarded to the MDC Server Plan and they can then manage from M365 Defender portal (security.micrososft.com). So now that the "Add-on" announced in this thread is available how does it get applied for Azure VMs already onboarded to MDE P2?
What controls do customers have to opt-in or opt out?
How will billing be done (Is it included in the MDC Server Plan cost)?
