We are excited to announce availability of new personalized view capability for the Viva Connections dashboard. This feature enables end users to rearrange and hide the cards in the Viva Connections based on their personal preferences.

Customers have been already able to take advantage of numerous personalization options within the Viva Connections and this feature introduced one more option to provide optimized end user experience to access the most relevant information from any device user is using.

Different level of supported personalization options in Viva Connections:

  • Dashboard level targeting - You can have multiple dashboards which are targeted based on audiences
  • Multilingual dashboards - Viva Connections supports multilingual option based on the user language settings
  • Card specific targeting - You can define the visibility of individual cards based on audiences
  • Card feature targeting - Card developers and creators (SPFx) can provide different functionalities based on the user profile attributes and audiences
  • Personalized views - End users can personalize the experience based on their preference - feature which is covered in this article

You can personalize the view directly within the dashboard view in both desktop and mobile experiences. Support for editing the personalized view is not currently supported with the tablet experience.

There will need to be a way to mark some cards as 'always visible'. To Erica Augustine's point, companies are working really hard to get the right content in front of the right people.

Turning this feature off would be very helpful for teams who have painstakingly ordered the cards for their audiences. Admins currently have that capability (for mobile). It would be useful to be able to do this for all screen resolutions.

I agree with Erica and Kelly: It would be VERY helpful to be able to disable the customize function completely and to have the option of sticky/non-removable cards. The dashboard is a central platform to POSITION certain content deliberately in order to support strategic goals.

Looks great, and really nicely implemented. But +1 for putting the ability to turn this on/ off. This is great functionality, but it could definitely alter the overall usage and intent of the dashboard (as is no doubt intended) and therefore I'm surprised it's not been rolled out in a more considerate way for intranet owners.

I also agree that ideally an owner can 'pin' a card to make it mandatory.

Hmm, looks like they have stealth updated this article and now say this can be controlled by admins using the same field I mentioned already exists for mobile. Good!
