shashban disappointing but not surprised. With the huge rise in ransomware over the last few years it would of been something that DPM could of done - especially when you see the install base ranges from small education/businesses to huge environments, and on the face of it DPM has no ransomware protection.
thx1200 yeah we considered something similar but as our current onsite backup sits at about 26TB including retention (our offsite with longer term retention is nearly double) it just gets a bit big.... We trialled the Import/Export feature into Azure and by the time we had done it, got it shipped off to Azure and uploaded it was nearly 2 weeks later.
We have bodged it by creating a second active directory domain that has read only access into our main AD, it works but it just seems counter productive.
So we now have Onsite DPM Box -> Offsite DPM Box (via a 1gb WAN link) then back onsite we have a 3rd DPM box that sits in a separate AD domain. Just seems majorly overkill for what could be a very simple solution.
Maybe our time with DPM is coming to an end - been using it since 2009 but maybe its just not fit for purpose for us anymore, which is a shame.
