Certifications refresh: AI-focused and fundamentals updates
AB-900 is the replacement but it only overlaps around 20-25% of the MS-900 exam
AB-900 is already live.
I would take MS-900 and then look to take AB-900.
Thanks for the answer but if I don't have time to give the exam for the MS-900 certification, what happens after that?
So I can't give it after 3/31/2026? Is the MB-900 certification available and does it fully replace the MS-900?
Which is better and more useful of the 2?
Also, is it a lifetime certificate and can someone add it to their bio like on LinkedIn?

Yes, as I said, the AB-900 exam is live and as I also said it only covers around 20-25% of the MS-900 exam

They have a different focus. AB-900 is more useful to Microsoft and the direction Microsoft is moving. MS-900 is more relevant to most people now managing their Microsoft 365 tenant and devices.
Also, is it a lifetime certificate and can someone add it to their bio like on LinkedIn?
Yes, Fundamentals certifications do not expire and can be shared on LinkedIn

Thank you very much for the information and advice.
Also, which certifications are suitable for IT Support to customers - companies since the MS-900 is being retired?
Is the MS-102 also suitable for lifetime?

There is no direct replacement certification that is suitable, the AB-900 is closest.
MS-102 is an the exam that partially qualifies for the expert level Microsoft 365 Administrator certification. You will also need to hold one of the prerequisite active associate certifications. https://learn.microsoft.com/en-us/credentials/certifications/m365-administrator-expert/#certification-prerequisites. All associate and expert level certifications expire and must be renewed annually.

Hi
- all actual certifications are found in the clickable cert poster at https://aka.ms/certposter (it’s not obvious, and many miss that’s it’s conveniently clickable :))
- You can read more about retirement here -

- and some news here -

- All Fundamentals does not retire - they are life long. But as seen in above article, AI-900 as example gets a refresh - as AI-901
- MS-900 replacement is AB-900. A bit strange as not really same focus, and very strange Microsoft now has zero Fundamentals covering Intune, device / apps management - but that’s what it is
best of luck
