Upgrading Windows 8 clients to Windows 8.1 in Windows Server 2012 Essentials Environment

If you have a Windows 8 client connected to a server running Windows Server 2012 Essentials using the Windows Server Essentials Connector and you upgrade it to Windows 8.1, you may experience the following issues after the upgrade is complete:

a) On first logon, Alert Viewer may throw this error message:

b) Certain services may fail to start automatically:

Because some of the services may not start as they should have, you may also experience issues such as not being able to restore any files or folders for that client computer.

To resolve the above issues: Restart the client computer and that will take care of the Alert Viewer Error and also start all the required services.
