These days, we get a lot of questions around SAP Business Objects components supporting SQL Server 2016. As of February 2017, the support situation looks like:
The support of more recent OS or DBMS releases is not always apparent in the SAP PAM grid where supported OS and DBMS versions usually are listed. Instead you should open the PDF file that you often can find in the upper right corner of the SAP PAM page of the specific SAP product. Like shown below:

Azure properties.

- SAP BusinessObjects BI Platform 4.1: As of SAP BusinessObjects BI Platform 4.1 SP09, SAP introduced support for SQL Server 2016 which got released for SAP NetWeaver in 2016 already .

SAP Data Services 4.2:
- SAP introduced support for SQL Azure Databases ( https://azure.microsoft.com/en-us/services/sql-database/?b=16.50 ) as well as support for Azure Blob ( https://azure.microsoft.com/en-us/services/storage/blobs ) with SP07
- SAP introduced support for SQL Server 2016 with SP08 of SAP Data Services 4.2.
