The Microsoft Device Ecosystem Platform (MDEP), built on the Android Open-Source Project (AOSP), enables device manufacturers and developers to create innovative, secure, and reliable solutions—backed by Microsoft's commitment to trust, accessibility, and seamless management.
Earlier this year, we marked a milestone with the Release to Manufacturing (RTM) of MDEP and our partnerships with industry leaders like Jabra, Yealink, and Barco. We've also increased silicon support with our System on Chip (SoC) partners Qualcomm, MediaTek, and Rockchip.
We remain committed to advancing the platform with new capabilities, continuous enhancements, and comprehensive support across a growing number of device categories and through global Microsoft-wide initiatives covering security, management, and AI.
Our regular and consistent release cadence to device partners ensures that devices in the MDEP ecosystem stay protected and up to date, with monthly security patches and up to four annual feature releases. MDEP enables both device manufacturers and enterprises to leverage Microsoft's latest technologies, including features that are unique to MDEP-based devices.

Introducing additional Silicon support
In response to the needs of our partners and customers, and as part of our ongoing commitment to innovation, we are actively expanding the range of chipsets supported by our platform to drive its continued growth.
Earlier this year we introduced Qualcomm’s QCS6490 into our ecosystem, and today we’re expanding our reach with support for the MediaTek Genio 510, a versatile system-on-chip (SoC) designed for a broad range of IoT and embedded applications. With its powerful dual-core Arm Cortex-A78 processor and energy-efficient Cortex-A55 cores, the Genio 510 enables fast processing while maintaining power efficiency, making it ideal for smart devices and edge applications. Additionally, its support for advanced connectivity, including Wi-Fi 6 and Bluetooth 5.2, aligns perfectly with MDEP's vision of creating a seamlessly connected, scalable device ecosystem. By introducing MediaTek’s Genio 510 into our platform, we strengthen our versatility and enable developers to build smarter, more responsive devices that leverage the full potential of MDEP’s cloud and AI services, helping customers and partners innovate at scale across the connected device landscape.
"MediaTek Genio 510 exemplifies our vision for the future of intelligent devices", said Juha Kuosmanen, Head of Microsoft Device Ecosystem Platform (MDEP). "By adding this versatile silicon to our ecosystem, we empower device manufacturers and developers to create smarter, more secure, and optimized solutions."
Accelerating Microsoft Teams Rooms development
MDEP is excited to strengthen its partner ecosystem by collaborating with two leading Original Design Manufacturers (ODMs), Thundercomm and AmTRAN, to design state-of-the-art Microsoft Teams Room devices. By engaging with these ODMs early in the development of device reference architectures — built around select Qualcomm and MediaTek SoCs — we’re enabling our OEM partners to bring devices to market faster and more cost-effectively:
