October 1, 2025 update: Microsoft 365 Premium subscribers are able to access Frontier features in addition to Personal and Family subscribers.
The Frontier program that gives commercial Microsoft 365 Copilot customers early access to exciting, cutting-edge capabilities is now coming to individuals who have a Microsoft 365 Personal, Family, or Premium subscription. This expansion enables individuals to get hands-on with Microsoft’s latest AI innovations and help shape how they evolve before they launch.
What Is the Frontier Program?
Frontier connects individuals directly with Microsoft’s latest AI innovations. Users get hands-on access to breakthrough capabilities and can share feedback with product teams to help shape the future of AI. With Frontier, you’re not just trying out new technology: you’re co-creating the future of AI.
What’s New for individuals with Microsoft 365 Personal, Family, or Premium plans?
Starting today, users will be able to opt-in to Frontier capabilities from the web versions of Microsoft 365 applications they use every day. Users will be able to give a thumbs up/thumbs down on their experience with Frontier capabilities to provide feedback to the product teams.
Capabilities will be labeled with “Frontier” to indicate their preview status. Frontier capabilities for consumers are governed by the Microsoft Services Agreement and the Microsoft Privacy Statement, including its preview terms.

Agent Mode in PowerPoint is available in the Microsoft 365 Insiders Beta Channel on Windows. Agent Mode works on the PowerPoint desktop app in English and introduces an interactive, agentic experience to your slides. With Agent mode, you can direct Copilot to create, edit, and refine presentations through natural language. It’s not just a one-shot prompt, it’s a conversation where Copilot interprets your intent, asks clarifying questions, and applies changes live in-app. The experience is still in its early stages, and we’re excited to hear your feedback as we continue to improve it.

In app presentation creation with Copilot in PowerPoint improvements are available in the PowerPoint web app in English. You can find the enhanced experience when you “create a presentation with Copilot” now with more control options to adjust and style your presentation output across areas like length, outline topics, tone, presentation style, image source, and content density before generating your slides.
COPILOT function in Excel is available in the Excel web app for Microsoft 365 Premium subscribers. Enter a natural language prompt in your spreadsheet, reference cell values as needed, and watch Copilot instantly generate AI-powered results. Learn more about COPILOT function in Excel here.
