Resolution and Scaling Level Updates in RDP 8.1

So we're experiencing a problem with RDP'ing to a multi monitor system from a single monitor system. Steps to reproduce.

1)        after working locally on the desktop, lock keyboard

2)        RDP from a single screen laptop to desktop

3)        terminate RDP session

4)        log back in on desktop

5)        PROBLEM: one of the two monitors remains dark

6)        TEMPORARY RESOLUTION: RDP from laptop once again, and run this command:

                        C:\Windows\System32\tscon.exe 1 /dest:console

Please advise where should this be posted.

7)        return to desktop and both monitors should now be usable again
