Sorry - nothing has changed.  However, let me expand that answer a bit.

 

When I built the new Windows LAPS CSP and added it to Windows, I also made it a baseline part of Windows Server.  This was an optimistic, forward-looking effort on my part since - as you noted - Intune does not currently support managing Windows Server.  I've reviewed their current documentation and found multiple statements to this effect.

 

Put another way, if and when Windows Server management does become a supported Intune scenario, the Windows LAPS CSP will be ready and waiting.
