When identity and network access teams operate in isolation, organizations face increased complexity, inconsistent policies, and greater risk. These inefficiencies not only slow down operational processes but also expose critical systems to vulnerabilities that could be mitigated through a more unified approach.

At RSA early this year, Irina Nechaeva, GM of Product Marketing for Identity & Network Security, highlighted how removing silos across identity and network security teams can simplify your Zero Trust architecture, streamline employee onboarding, modernize remote access, and secure both on-premises applications and internet resources. In her session, she not only described these benefits in depth but also showcased seamless, real-world demos illustrating how unified solutions lead to smoother end-user experiences.

Getting started with the Microsoft Entra Suite: First 90 days

While many organizations see the value of unification and want to achieve the seamless experiences Irina covered in her session above, many don’t know where to start.

The Microsoft Entra Suite offers a holistic solution to bridge the gap between identity and network security, empowering organizations to enhance employee productivity while maintaining an uncompromising stance on cybersecurity. With the Microsoft Entra Suite, you can strengthen your Zero Trust strategy in just three months.

Here are five high-impact actions to prioritize:

1. Deploy security controls to identify risky users

Set up Conditional Access policies with ID Protection to detect and respond to risky sign-ins and user behavior. Use risk-based policies to automatically block or challenge access when threats are detected.

2. Configure access reviews

Ensure users have the right level of access by initiating access reviews across critical groups and applications. This helps reduce overprivileged accounts and supports compliance requirements.

3. Protect internet traffic with a Secure Web Gateway (SWG)

Enable Microsoft Entra Internet Access to secure outbound traffic and enforce policy-based access to SaaS and internet resources. This reduces exposure to malicious content and data exfiltration.

4. Discover and modernize access to private apps

Use Microsoft Entra Private Access to identify legacy access patterns and modernize how users connect to internal applications—without relying on traditional VPNs.

5. Automate employee onboarding with Lifecycle Workflows

Streamline identity provisioning and deprovisioning using Microsoft Entra ID Governance. Automate access assignments based on roles, departments, or business rules to improve efficiency and reduce risk.
