What's the logic for not enabling self-service signup with Entra or personal Microsoft accounts, instead restricting this to setup via invitation?
We have (limited) social signup with Google and Facebook, which is a start, but why is this only available with your competitors?
I can, for example, sign up for an online event (e.g. Microsoft Build) using my main Entra account, benefiting from MFA, Conditional Access and other protections. I'd love to offer this via Entra External ID for our customers.
My use case is as a membership organisation with companies as our members, we provide online access to services via our website. Member personnel mostly have their own Entra accounts, and it would be great if they could seamlessly log in to our services (as long as their own tenants permit it) rather than having to create separate accounts. We don't necessarily know who the individuals are, so can't do this via invitation (and it would be a horrible user experience if we had to set up a separate process for them to trigger an invitation first).
Or am I missing something?
